Through the acquisitions of regionally strong propane companies, Heart of Texas Propane has become competitively advantaged by focusing on service and integrity.

Heart of Texas Propane has 9 physical storefronts throughout the Texas Hill Country, including Brady, Brownwood, Dripping Springs, Goldthwaite, Harper, Kerrville, Llano, Mason and San Saba.

Being a new brand, Heart of Texas Propane had no previous website. Digital Rebel Marketing was brought on-board to work with their team to create a website that established their brand and build trust in the communities they serve.

The challenge was to use the new brand and existing brands of the locations acquired. They wanted to let their customers know that although they were the "new kid on the block", their staff was well-experienced and heavily focused on customer service.

We worked closely with their team to:

  • Create a functional, user-friendly and mobile-responsive site allowing new visitors to easily navigate around.
  • Make SEO a top priority to get their site to rank organically as soon as possible.
  • Ensure their site out-performed their competitors.

After a few months of working closely with their team, Digital Rebel launched HOTpropane.com in the summer of 2021.

Search Engine Optimization & Content

As mentioned above, we knew we had to develop an SEO strategy that would place them at the top of the search results for the towns they serve.

We collaborated with their internal marketing coordinator to continue to use legacy store names in towns that were already established. Over time, as their search engine rankings climbed and their brand became more recognizable, all store locations became branded with the Heart of Texas Propane logo and tagline.

We established about 40 high-value keywords that are important for rankings and began developing content surrounding those words. The results were amazing. Here's a few key results from these efforts:

  • Over 17 high-value keywords ranking in the top 3 Google results.
  • Over 20 high-value keywords ranking in the top 10 Google results.
  • Over 20 high-value keywords ranking in the top 20 Google Results.

Our intent was to also not only rank for high-value keywords, but grow organically with minimal spend on pay-per-click.

Here's what we accomplished so far:

  • Over the course of the last 2 years, organic keywords increased 250% from around 600 to over 2,300 keywords.
  • Organic traffic grew over 330% from 231 visitors per month to over 1000 visitors per month.
  • SERP features like "People also ask", "Local pack" and "AI Overview" have grown from 18 keywords to 133 keywords.
